Introduction of the Scholarship Program
The KACEPMA (Korean-American Construction Engineering and Project Management Association) and the HanmiGlobal award scholarships each year based on need and merit of graduate students in the disciplines of construction engineering and project management (CEPM). With a mission to support the next generation of CEPM professionals, the KACEPMA has been dedicated to leading the growth of CEPM fields for researchers and professionals in U.S. To accomplish KACEPMA’s objectives, the KACEPMA and HanmiGlobal will award two scholarships to qualified Korean and Korea-American graduate students in CEPM or a related- degree program in the U.S that can promote the career development of young scientists and foster the next generation of global architecture/construction/building/infrastructure science, engineering and technology leaders. The scholarship is a one-time award ranging up to $5,000 (two awardees, each year). Scholarship awardees will have opportunities to contribute to KACEPMA as a student representative or a web administrator.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
• Must be a Korean or Korean-American in U.S.
• Must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution for a construction engineering and project management (CEPM) or related field. Only graduate students in M.S. and Ph.D. programs are eligible to apply for this scholarship. “Degree” is determined by your institution at the time of application submission.
• Merit-based Applicants must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in CEPM or related courses, if the submitted transcript is from a graduate program. A fresh graduate student who has his/her most recent transcript from a Bachelor’s degree program must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Need-based Applicants have no GPA requirements but it will be considered for awardee selection.
• For students having a different GPA scale, equivalent documentation of academic achievement at a level corresponding to a 4.0 GPA is required.
• Applicants awarded a scholarship are required to attend the upcoming KACEPMA meeting (Tentative meeting schedule: CRC at Iowa State University, March 20-23, 2024, https://cisummit-crc.asce.org/).
• Individuals who have received the scholarship within the past three years are not eligible to apply for it.
Application Review Processes and Criteria
Scholarship review panels will review received applications according to the following criteria:
• Academic or industrial contributions: a list of academic research or industry projects and applicant’s roles in them, and notable awards, honors, and achievements.
• Statements about a need of the scholarship and a plan for utilizing it and suggestions for expected KACEPMA’s roles in flourishing CEPM areas and promoting next generations.
• Leadership: experiences when an applicant excelled in a leadership role.
• Short- and long-term career goals in CEPM fields and potentials and future plan for contributing to CEPM disciplines
• Recommendation letters

• A high-resolution .PNG or .JPEG file headshot (photo) of yourself that can be used for marketing and recognition purposes if you are awarded a scholarship

Submission and Deadline

• Awards will be announced around mid February, 2024.
